DOUBLE DOWN!
Anton Hajek, the self-proclaimed first Texas Master Naturalist from the Alamo Area Chapter, presented a challenge to each Texas Master Naturalist volunteer during the 2017 Annual Meeting in Corpus Christi. Anton challenged each Master Naturalist to match his initial donation of $500 to the Texas Master Naturalist Endowment. With the assumption that if each attendee of our largest Annual Meeting to date (over 550 attendees), matched his gift with one of their own, the TMN Endowment would have over $200,000 raised!
And the $500 figure was chosen with reason – Anton reasoned that if it was worth paying more than $500 to see his Master Naturalist friends, it was worth that to support the organization, and presented his personal check to the Foundation in the sum of $500.00 to, as he called it “double down”.
He then asked the almost 600 attendees to do the same by matching his $500 by the 2018 meeting. Because every 100 attendees paying $500 each equals $50,000.00! “Grow the Foundation!”
There are options to meet that $500 challenge –
-pay $500 in a lump sum,
-or $42 by direct monthly bank deduction,
-or put $100 in an envelope each month so you can fund the foundation AND attend the 2018 meeting
For those who have a verified $500 donation in before October 2018, Anton has promised to throw celebration party during the 2018 Annual Meeting. Verification will be made by the Foundation office.
